ITINERARY 2 DAYS TOUR FROM FES TO MERZOUGA
Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Cedar Forest → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Erfoud → Merzouga Desert
Your 2-day desert tour from Fes to Merzouga will begin early at 6:00 AM. After pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes, we start the journey south toward the Sahara. Our first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” because of its clean streets, snow in winter, and European-style buildings. Next, we continue to the cedar forest of Azrou, where you can see and take photos with the Barbary macaque monkeys.
We continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains to the town of Midelt, known for its apple orchards, where we’ll stop for lunch. After lunch, we drive through the scenic Tizi n’Talghamt Pass and enjoy the views of the stunning Ziz Valley, filled with palm trees and Berber villages. We will make several photo stops along the way.
By the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, where your camel guide will be waiting. You’ll ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes to reach your desert camp and watch a magical sunset from the top of the dunes. Enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner at the camp, and at night, gather around the campfire for Berber music under the starry Sahara sky.

On the second day of your 2-day Morocco desert tour from Fes to Merzouga, you will wake up early to catch the beautiful sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll ride camels (or transfer by 4×4) back to meet your driver, where we begin the return trip to Fes.
On the way, we stop in Rissani, a traditional desert town and the birthplace of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. If it’s a market day (Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday), you can walk through the local souk to see how locals shop and trade. We then pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossils and dates, and continue through the scenic Ziz Valley. After a lunch break in Midelt, we drive through the cedar forest and Ifrane before arriving in Fes in the late afternoon.
